The Great, I Am
by Melanie Wai
When we look at great men in the bible that were used by God, was it because of their outstanding personality, their impeccable integrity or undeniable leadership ability? Look at reluctant Moses, fearful Joshua, impulsive Peter, adulterous David. All chosen by God and all great heroes of the faith.
We know what they did. Betrayers, murderers, recluses, men so afraid that God had to say over and over to be of good courage.
So what made them great?
When they were so reluctant, when they were so afraid, when they wanted to hide…did God coddle them? Did God say, “it’s ok, you can do it.” Did God tell them what a great leader they were?
God assured them of himself…affirmed himself.
God always said, “I am with you, I am your God, I am who I am, and I will be with you always.”
It is God that is great.
We don’t have to be.
When you feel the least worthy, perhaps you’re the most ready.
So when you hear “embrace the leader in you”, don’t let it intimidate you, scare you or let it roll off your back because you think it’s not for you. Because God is great.
All you have to do is show up.
